Hi! My name is Dean OBrien and welcome to my blog.
I am a Senior .Net Developer at Northumbria University and live in Newcastle Upon Tyne, in the North East of England. I have been developing websites for most of my professional career (although I did spend a few years in Marketing travelling across Europe – but thats another story) and have specialised in Sitecore since becoming aware of it in 2016.
For those of you that dont know Sitecore – its a Content Management System, built on C# .Net. What originally caught my interest in Sitecore, was the way in which it can track and profile visitors and then allow you to personalise there journey depending on their interactions. Also the rich set of extensible tools within the system, that allowed authors to build there own pages with the components created by developers.
It has changed and grown significantly over the years I have been working with it. The purpose of this blog is to record and share my experiences developing on the system. Needless to say, I have made alot of mistakes over the years, so hopefully in sharing the lessons that I came to learn, I will be able to help some other people on their own Sitecore journey.
